Soul Mates
Some people believe that there is one person for everyone. Some believe that there are many “one persons” out there. Others believe you end up with whomever you end up with.
Here’s what I believe. Everyone in the world has a soul mate. That one person whose soul you feel every time you look at them. That one person you’re drawn to with a magnetism that lights up your world. That one person whose absence from your life rips your heart with a pain that makes you feel like death. That one person you’d bend over for in so many ways that before your life is through, your soul feels like a pretzel. That one person you can never deny. And that’s what I believe. One soul mate for every person in the world.
Except that’s not the person you’re necessarily supposed to spend your days with. And it’s rarely the person you end up with.
That doesn’t mean you can never love someone else. Love is such a vast thing that it can be shared in so many ways with so many people, and the well never runs dry unless we let it. I also think that in some cases, you’re better off with the one you end up with rather than your soul mate. In some cases, ending up with your soul mate could obliterate your world. But I do think we’re damned lucky if we meet that person. Because nothing can complete a broken soul like they can....back to the ramblings archive...
